Community Development The goal of Amigos for Christ Community Development projects is to improve the physical living conditions of the poor in Nicaragua.  To achieve this goal, we focus on building homes and latrine & shower house combos.  We have also set up family feeding programs to assist families while they are building their homes.

Health Services The objective of Amigos for Christ Health projects is to improve the conditions in the areas of Rural Health and Surgical Services in Nicaragua.  There are 2 areas of health services - surgical and rural health. Volunteer groups of doctors and nurses offer their time and talent in St. Martin de Porres Hospital several times a year.   Our mobile medical unit routinely visits 14 villages providing basic medicines and preventative health information.

Clean Water The objective of Amigos for Christ water program is to improve the quantity and quality of water available for both consumption and crop irrigation. Poor families in rural Nicaragua must travel for hours to reach clean water sources, sometimes by foot. Consequently, some communities use contaminated rivers and wells as their drinking sources. Supporting this project will allow us to continue to provide water to thousands in Nicaragua.

Education The objective of Amigos for Christ Education program is to assist the Nicaraguan school system in primary school start-up and encourage post primary school studies. We construct and help operate grade schools in rural Nicaraguan communities. School children are fed one meal a day from our feeding centers, which provides an incentive to attend school. For students beyond 6th grade, we offer scholarships to secondary school.

Micro-Enterprise The objective of Amigos for Christ Micro Enterprise projects is to improve the economic conditions of the poor in Nicaragua. We have business cooperatives set up in four areas - pig & chicken farming, compost production, organic farming, and thrift store.  We also encourage small group business through micro-lending.

Spirituality The objective of Amigos for Christ Spiritual program is to offer assistance in all spiritual growth areas for all willing Nicaraguans and all people that participate in Amigos for Christ mission trips.  Our spiritual projects focus on church construction, spiritual education programs, and teen programs.
